2nd Anniversary-in-Office: Akeem Ige Appoints Student as First-Ever One-Day Chairman
…As Initiative aims to inspire students to embrace diligence, discipline and academic excellence
The Chairman of the Oyo State Local Government Staff Pension Board, Hon. Akeem Ademola Ige, has marked his second year in office with the launch of a youth empowerment initiative aimed at promoting academic excellence among young people.
As part of activities commemorating the anniversary, Hon. Ige appointed Master Abel Obaloluwa, a student of God’s Vision Academy, IGEM City, Ibadan, as the board’s first-ever “One-Day Chairman.”
The initiative, described as the first of its kind in the history of the board, was designed to inspire students to remain dedicated to their studies and pursue excellence.
During his one-day tenure, Master Obaloluwa was received by the management of the Pension Board and briefed on its responsibilities, particularly in the administration of pensions and gratuities for retired local government workers and primary school teachers in Oyo State.
He also embarked on an inspection tour of the board’s offices alongside the chairman and other management staff.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Ige said the initiative was intended to motivate young people by demonstrating that dedication, consistency and hard work can help them achieve their dreams.
He encouraged the student to sustain his academic performance and continue striving for greater accomplishments.
The event attracted family members, political associates and other dignitaries, including the Coordinator of GSMists Diaspora USA, Hon. Segun Folorunsho Akande, who commended Hon. Ige’s leadership and commitment to the welfare of pensioners.
Other activities marking the chairman’s second anniversary included visits to his alma mater, special prayer services and a thanksgiving programme.
Stakeholders described the “One-Day Chairman” initiative as an innovative approach to nurturing future leaders and encouraging educational excellence among young people.
