2027: Akeem Olatunji’s our ‘Babasale’, we’re firmly with his Reps candidacy – Oluyole League of Imams/Alfas

The leadership of League of Imams and Alfas in Oluyole local government and across its ten wards of the Council has declared its total support for the candidacy of the Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

The declaration came on Thursday, June 4, during a routine meeting between the Islamic clerics and the local government chairman at his Sanyo private residence, where religious leaders praised Olatunji’s contributions to the growth and development of Oluyole and pledged to stand firmly behind his political ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on behalf of the League, its Chairman, Alhaji Taliat Abdulazeez, described Olatunji as a benefactor and committed supporter of the Islamic community, who has remained consistent with his welfarist ideology.

He noted that their relationship with the transcends politics and has come a long way, assuring that 2027 House of Reps contest in Oluyole federal constituency will be handled like a personal business towards a landslide victory for Olatunji.

According to him, the title of Babasale Musulumi of Oluyole earlier bestowed on Olatunji was a reflection of his longstanding support for the Muslim community and his dedication to the welfare of religious leaders across the local government.

“You are one of us. Beyond the title of Babasale Musulumi of Oluyole which we bestowed upon you, we deeply appreciate your kindness and unwavering support.

“You have done so much for us and achieved what no one has ever done in the history of the Oluyole League of Imams,” Abdulazeez said.

He added that the League remained grateful for Olatunji’s contributions and would continue to stand by him whenever called upon.

“You have our full support and loyalty. Whenever you call upon us, we will always stand by you because of your remarkable contributions and dedication to our cause.

“We are truly grateful for all you have done and pray that Almighty Allah continues to bless and strengthen you,” he stated.

The clerics also used the occasion to affirm their support for the political direction of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration, citing what they described as unprecedented infrastructural development and economic progress across Oyo State.

They vowed to support the continuation of the political ideals and governance model championed by the governor, while expressing confidence in Olatunji’s capacity to provide effective representation at the federal level.

In a similar vein, the Chairman of the League of Imams and Alfas in Akorede Local Council Development Area, Sheikh Jamiu Ibiyemi, offered prayers for Olatunji and predicted success for his political aspiration.

According to Ibiyemi, Olatunji’s commitment to the welfare of the people and his support for religious institutions have earned him resounding goodwill across the constituency.

“No one can continue to do good for the people as you have done without God rewarding and elevating him to a greater position, so, it’s your time to go to Abuja and we will see to this project till the end,” he assured.

He further stressed that the clerics saw no reason to support any other candidate, insisting that Olatunji had earned their trust through his actions and leadership.

“You have been too good to us for us to consider endorsing any other candidate. That is not possible. We are solidly behind you, and we will continue to remember you in our prayers. Indeed, we believe that Allah has already answered your prayers,” Ibiyemi added.

Also speaking at the meeting, Hon. AbdulKabir Popoola commended Olatunji’s leadership style and administrative acumen, describing him as a leader endowed with uncommon wisdom.

Popoola said the local government chairman had demonstrated exceptional capacity in managing the affairs of Oluyole Local Government and had distinguished himself through purposeful governance.

He noted that Olatunji’s impact extends beyond Oluyole, arguing that his achievements and leadership qualities have continued to attract admiration from different parts of Oyo State.

According to him, leaders with such vision and wisdom are rare and often destined for greater responsibilities.

Responding, Olatunji expressed appreciation to the League of Imams and Alfas for the confidence reposed in him and for their prayers and support.

The council chairman said he was particularly honoured by the resounding declaration of support, noting that despite his aspiration to represent Oluyole Federal Constituency, he had not previously held a formal engagement with any organisation or association in such a manner.

He described the meeting as his first official interaction of that nature since declaring his interest in the House of Representatives seat and emphasized the importance of religious leaders in shaping society and promoting peace.

Olatunji assured the clerics that he would remain committed to service, inclusiveness and the development of Oluyole, while promising not to take their support and prayers for granted.
