Oyo Assembly Confirms Ojo, Oyeleke as Commissioners

…As Makinde’s nominees scale legislative screening, join State Executive Council

The Oyo State House of Assembly has approved the appointment of Barrister Ayobami Ojo and Dr. Lateef Oyeleke as commissioners in the state.

The approval was granted during plenary on Thursday at the Assembly Complex, Secretariat, Ibadan, presided over by the Speaker, Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin.

The confirmation followed the presentation and adoption of the report of the House Committee on Special Duties, chaired by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Fadeyi, which screened the nominees and recommended their confirmation.

Governor Seyi Makinde had, on May 25, forwarded the names of Dr. Oyeleke and Barrister Ojo to the Assembly for screening and confirmation as members of the State Executive Council.

In his correspondence to the lawmakers, the governor requested a thorough but expeditious screening process in line with the provisions of Section 192 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).

Following the committee’s recommendation, lawmakers unanimously approved the appointments, paving the way for the nominees to join the state cabinet.

The confirmation is expected to fill existing vacancies in the State Executive Council and further strengthen the administration’s efforts in delivering governance and development programmes across Oyo State.
