Oyo Police Dismiss Movement Restriction Claims, Assure Residents of Safety in Ibadan

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed rumours suggesting that a curfew or movement restriction has been imposed in Ibadan and other parts of the state.

In a statement issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the Command described the reports circulating in some quarters as false and misleading, stressing that there are currently no security concerns warranting panic among residents.

According to the statement, residents and members of the public are free to move within and outside Ibadan without any restriction, as adequate security measures have already been put in place across the state.

The Command noted that officers and operatives have been strategically deployed to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of lives and property.

The police also warned individuals and groups against spreading false information capable of causing fear, panic, and emotional distress among residents, adding that anyone found culpable would be investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

Residents were advised to ignore unverified reports and continue their lawful activities without fear, while remaining vigilant and cooperative with security agencies.

The Command further assured the public that any official security directive or emergency measure would only be communicated through verified channels, including the Office of the Police Public Relations Officer and other recognised conventional and digital media platforms.
