Oyo State Police Debunk Rumours of Rescue of Kidnapped Pupils

The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed reports claiming that abducted students, pupils, and teachers in Orire Local Government Area have been rescued.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka,
the Command clarified that the victims are yet to be released, adding that security agencies are intensifying efforts to secure their safe rescue and apprehend those behind the abduction.

The police described the circulating reports of the victims’ release as false and misleading, urging members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.

According to the statement, the spread of fake news and misinformation could create unnecessary panic, heighten tension, and distract security operatives from ongoing rescue operations.

“The abducted students, pupils, and teachers in Orire Local Government Area are yet to be released, as intensive efforts by security agencies continue to ensure their safe rescue and the arrest of those responsible,” the statement read.

The Command assured residents of Oyo State that verified updates would be communicated as developments unfold and advised the public to seek clarification through the Police Public Relations Officer or the Command’s control room.
