2027: Adedoja Charges Oyo APC Aspirants on Peaceful Conduct

…urges unity, warns against violence ahead of 2027 elections

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, has called on governorship aspirants within the party to ensure a peaceful conduct before, during and after the forthcoming governorship primary election.

Prof. Adedoja made the appeal during a meeting with APC governorship aspirants held in Ibadan, where he stressed the need for unity, discipline and mutual respect among party members ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the success of the APC in the state would depend largely on the ability of aspirants and their supporters to avoid actions capable of creating division within the party.

He urged all contenders to regard the primary election as a family affair and support whoever eventually emerges as the party’s candidate for the governorship election.

The former Minister of Sports and Special Duties also appealed to party members to shun violence, inflammatory comments and acts of intimidation throughout the exercise.

Governorship aspirants present at the meeting included former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan; Ololade Usman Bakare; Musbau Asatola Asanike; Sharafadeen Alli; and Akeem Alao.Akeem Agbaje was absent at the meeting but sent his apologies.

The aspirants commended Adedoja for what they described as his leadership role and pledged to abide by the rules guiding the primary election while working towards the unity and progress of the APC in Oyo State.

Speaking after the meeting, Olaniyan, who is also Chairman of the G5, said the APC remained one family despite existing differences within the party.

He added that he would participate in the forthcoming governorship primary election despite speculations that a candidate had already been anointed ahead of the exercise.

Also speaking, Asanike described the gathering as a peace meeting, expressing optimism that “there will be light at the end of the tunnel.”Efforts to reach Alli for comments after the meeting were unsuccessful as his telephone line was switched off.

The meeting lasted for about five hours and was held at the private residence of Professor Adedoja in Ibadan.
