Oyo APC Primary Disputes Will Be Resolved By Appeal Panel — Alabi

…As Committee says 74 aspirants cleared for primaries across 14 constituencies

Aggrieved aspirants and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State have been advised to channel complaints arising from the House of Representatives primary elections through the party’s appeal committee.

The Chairman of the APC House of Representatives Primaries Election Committee in Oyo State, Prof. Mojeed Alabi, gave the advice on Saturday while addressing journalists at the party secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan.

Alabi, a former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, said the committee was not constituted to handle petitions but to supervise the conduct of the primaries, collate results, and forward reports to the party’s national leadership.

According to him, all grievances from the exercise would be resolved by the appeal committee set up by the party.
“Our own work is to superintend, collate the results and submit the reports to the National Secretariat. It is the National Secretariat that will announce the results of the elections,” he said.

“Our committee is not an appeal committee.”
He disclosed that 74 aspirants were cleared by the APC National Secretariat to contest the House of Representatives primaries across the 14 federal constituencies in Oyo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alabi described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and free of violence or major disputes, adding that the elections were conducted simultaneously across wards within the federal constituencies in line with the party’s guidelines.

“We are committed to transparency, fairness, and doing what is right within the limits of available logistics,” he stated.

The committee chairman further stressed that members of the panel carried out their duties with fairness and without favouritism, while ensuring compliance with the directives of the party’s national leadership.

He noted that the committee monitored the elections across constituencies rather than staying at a single venue.
“We are not to stay at a particular place. We are to monitor the elections,” he added.

Alabi also reaffirmed the APC’s commitment to strengthening internal democracy ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Earlier, the Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Moses Adeyemo, commended the committee for the conduct of the exercise and urged party members to ensure a process acceptable to all aspirants and stakeholders in the state.
