Lagos 2027: Laja Adeoye Secures APM Governorship Candidate Nomination, Vows Reset Lagos Agenda

Laja Adeoye, former frontline consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and obtained the party’s governorship nomination form to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

Adeoye becoming the first to formally pick up the nomination form under the APM in Lagos, in which the party is issuing nomination form to various candidates for Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly.

The APM Expression of Interest and Nomination form for Gubernatorial candidacy, was presented to Laja Adeoye by the Lagos State PDP-APM Alliance Chairman, Barrister (Dr) Amos Fawole, who said this is the beginning of a RESET Movement Lagos in 2027, stating that the APM will form the next government in Lagos State.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos over the weekend, Adeoye explained that the protracted legal crisis within the PDP made it imperative for him and other candidates to seek an alternative platform to actualise their ambition.

“The ongoing legal tussle in the PDP was capable of shutting me out of the 2027 race. It created unnecessary distractions and shifted our focus.

I therefore took a strategic decision to move to the APM, a fresh and dynamic party that offers Lagosians a real opportunity for a Reset,” he said.

The governorship hopeful said his decision aligns with the “Reset Nigeria” movement championed by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who recently declared his intention to contest for the presidency.

“Our campaign, which was previously known as the Better Lagos Agenda, has now been rebranded as the Reset Lagos Movement, code-named Atunto Eko 1.0, to fully align with the national Reset Nigeria vision of Governor Seyi Makinde,” Adeoye stated.

He promised to deliver accountable, equitable and people-centred governance if elected in 2027.“Lagosians are yearning for a new leadership that will be transparent, fair to all, and truly represent their interests.

I am ready to provide that leadership. The Atunto Eko is not just a slogan, it is a commitment to reset Lagos, fix infrastructure, restore security, create jobs, and make governance work for every resident irrespective of tribe or religion,” he added.

Adeoye expressed confidence that the APM is positioned to make significant gains both at the federal and state levels.

“The APM is ready to take power at the Federal level, in Oyo, Lagos, and several other states of the federation. This is the beginning of a new era,” he declared.

Recall that Governor Seyi Makinde formally declared his presidential bid at the historic Mapo Hall in Ibadan on Thursday, where he called for a “Hard Reset” and a rebirth of Nigeria that would give citizens “a breath of fresh air.”

The declaration rally drew a massive crowd, signalling strong support for a change in leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections. The APM in Lagos has described Adeoye’s entry as a major boost to the party’s chances in the 2027 governorship race.
