Oyo Youths Set for Solidarity Walk, Champions League Final Night with GSM
The Oyo State Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with youth stakeholders, the PDP Youth Leadership, student bodies, and various youth-based organizations across the state, has concluded arrangements for a grand solidarity and appreciation march in honour of the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde.
The event, scheduled to hold on Saturday, May 30, 2026, is aimed at celebrating what organisers described as Governor Makinde’s seven years of transformative leadership, people-oriented governance, and remarkable infrastructural and economic development across Oyo State.
According to a statement issued by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Honourable Wasilat Adegoke , the initiative is designed not only to appreciate the governor’s developmental achievements since assuming office in 2019, but also to strengthen unity, engagement, and political participation among youths and supporters across the state.
The statement revealed that the solidarity walk will commence at 10:00 AM, with thousands of youths, students, party faithful, market groups, social organizations, and supporters expected to converge before embarking on a peaceful procession through major parts of Ibadan.
Participants are expected to be received by Governor Seyi Makinde alongside government functionaries, party leaders, political stakeholders, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries from within and outside the state.
Speaking on the significance of the gathering, the organisers described the Makinde administration as one that has consistently prioritized youth empowerment, education, infrastructure renewal, economic growth, sports development, and inclusive governance.
They noted that the governor’s leadership style has continued to create opportunities for young people while promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development across Oyo State.
The organisers further disclosed that activities for the day would continue in the evening with the highly anticipated “Champions League Final Night with GSM,” a football viewing and entertainment event designed to bring together football lovers and youths from across the state in an atmosphere of unity and celebration.
The UEFA Champions League final viewing event is scheduled to take place at the Racecourse, Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, by 6:00 PM.
Governor Seyi Makinde is also expected to grace the football night alongside several prominent personalities, entertainers, political leaders, and dignitaries.
In addition to the live football experience, attendees are expected to enjoy music performances, comedy, dance, games, refreshments, and other side attractions, making the event a complete blend of celebration, entertainment, and youth engagement.
The organisers therefore called on youths and residents across Oyo State to turn out massively in support of the initiative as a show of appreciation for what they described as “seven years of visionary leadership and unprecedented development” under the Makinde administration.
