SWAN Commiserates With NTA, NUJ, Gombe State Over Death Of Journalists in Road Accident

…Anthony Joshua Too For Loss Of Associates

The National Leadership of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has commiserated with the families, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and Gombe State Government Over the tragic loss of seven Journalists in a ghastly accident on Monday.

In a statement on Tuesday, through the Association’s Secretary-General, Amb. Ikenna Okonkwo, SWAN President, Mr. Isaiah Benjamin, described the accident as unfortunate while praying God to console those they left behind.

He said, “The news of the death of these bright Stars in journalism profession came to me as a shock. I have been so sad and speechless since yesterday.

“Losing seven Journalists at the same time in such a devastating manner is so painful to say the least. My prayer is that God Almighty comfort their relatives and all of us in the profession.”

The deceased died on Monday in a car crash along the Billiri-Kumo road in Gombe State as they were returning from a colleague’s wedding in Kaltungo.

Four others were said to have sustained injuries and are in hospital receiving treatment.

Also, SWAN President has condoled World Boxing Superstar, Anthony Joshua, for the demise of his two Associates who passed on immediately in a fatal accident along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

He said such accident which claimed the lives of bubbling individuals who are of immense assistance to Joshua, was regrettable.

“On behalf of teeming Sports Journalists in Nigeria, I commiserate with Anthony Joshua and pray that God console him and grant his speedy recovery from the injuries he sustained from the accident.

“Joshua’s life will continue to make impact and inspire young generations now and in the future,” he said.

Joshua recently knocked out Boxer and popular YouTuber Jake Paul in a bout that further brightened his career progression.
