Makinde Reaffirms Commitment to Security, Donates Refurbished APCs to Police
The Oyo State Government has restated its commitment to ensuring peace, stability, and the safety of lives and property as part of efforts to foster development across the state.
Deputy Governor Barr. Adebayo Lawal gave the assurance during the official handover of six refurbished Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to the Oyo State Police Command at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, Ibadan.

Speaking at the event, Lawal described the donation as a significant step toward strengthening security infrastructure in the state. He noted that Oyo is one of the few states in the country that places strong emphasis on internal security.
“Our administration will continue to provide the necessary support and enabling environment for all security agencies operating in the state to combat crime and maintain law and order,” the Deputy Governor said.

In his response, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Johnson Adenola, commended the government for the gesture. He said the refurbished APCs would greatly enhance the command’s operational capacity in tackling crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, and other forms of insecurity.
Adenola pledged the effective use of the equipment, assuring residents that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, will intensify efforts to keep the entire state safe and secure.
