OYO SWAN Commiserates with Kano State and Kano SWAN Over Tragic Loss of Sports Contingent
The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State chapter, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident that claimed the lives of members of the Kano State sports contingent returning from the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In a statement issued in Ibadan, OYO SWAN Chairman, Otunba Ayomiku Ajibola, described the accident—which resulted in the death of 22 individuals, including athletes, and coaches —as a heartbreaking loss to Nigeria’s sports community.
OYO SWAN extended its heartfelt condolences to the Kano State Government, the families of the deceased, and all those affected by the tragedy. The association also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and a swift recovery for the injured.
The association also expressed solidarity with Kano SWAN, and pledged support during this difficult period.
OYO SWAN stands in unity with the Nigerian sports community and prays for strength, comfort, and healing for all those grieving this irreplaceable loss.
