Oyo Council of Oba’s:You’re A Poor Student of History, Ibadan Mogajis, CCII, Baales, Other Knocks Olugbon Over Comment Against Ibadan

The Mogaji’s in Ibadanland, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) , monarchs, Baales, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) and prominent sons and daughters of the ancient city has cautioned the Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Oba Francis Olusola Alao over derogatory remarks against Ibadan concerning the recent amendment of a bill which was passed by the Oyo State House of Assembly on Oyo State Council of Oba’s and Chiefs.

The State House of Assembly adopted rotational chairmanship for the Council between the Alaafin of Oyo, Olubadan of Ibadanland and the Soun of Ogbomoso.

A statement by the President of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and the Coordinator, Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade warned Olugbon to desist from his verbal attacks on Ibadan.

According to the duo, they would have ignore Oba Alao but it become necessary for them to respond to Olugbon’s baseless and shameless critism against Ibadan.

The statement reads, “Olugbon was no where to be found when there was inter tribal war in the entire Yorubaland and Ibadanland stood firm to defend the Yoruba race, in fact, the standard the Onpetu of Ijeru land has in Ogbomoso axis, Olugbon didn’t have it.

“When the fulani’s and the inter tribal war were ravaging the entire Yorubaland and spreading from Ibadan to Egba, Ekiti , Ijesa and everywhere, the fore father’s of Oba Fransic Alao were no where to be found.

“Olugbon was asking that where is Ibadan kingdom, and where is Ogbomoso kingdom, now, we want to put it to him that where was Olugbon when Soun went to save the entire Oyo before Alaafin honored him to stay where he is today ?

“Now, the Olugbon is saying that there is nothing like Ibadan kingdom, when the Oyo Ile was dismantled and the empire of Oyo Ile was destroyed because of inter tribal war and external aggression, was it not Ibadan kingdom / Empire that rose in defence of Yoruba race ? In fact, there wouldn’t have been anything like Ile Igbon by now ?

“Olugbon should know all these if he is not a poor student of history. We are disturb and surprise that someone like Olugbon could be asking where is Ibadan kingdom and empire, it means that some of our kings are not well groomed in history.

“We have alot of respect for the immediate past Olugbon because of his brilliance, he was wise and well groomed in history, but the present Olugbon did not.

“Olugbon also alledged that all the members of Olubadan-in-council made the list of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, we want to put it to him that those people he was referring to are Royal Majesties who are chairmen of traditional institutions in various 11 local government that make Ibadan.

“We have 11 local governments in Ibadan land, Our Royal Majesties heads each of the local government traditional institution representing the Olubadan. If all these people are not a member of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, who else can be?.

“On the amended chieftaincy law, the chairman of Itesiwaju Local government and Saki west local government are also a member of the Council, even Onilala , Onjio. Aleepata made the list, so what are we talking about ?

“So, if our Royal Majesties cannot be members of the Oyo state Council of Obas, and royal highnesses from other smaller towns are members , how do you describe that ? It seems Olugbon is lost when it comes to history, he looked at our Royal Majesties duly approved by the state as mere members of the Olubadan-in-council and not seeing them as chairmen of their local government traditional institutions ? Its most unfortunate for an Oba of his calibre.

“Does Olugbon even have any ego to boost ? His public display can’t measure the standard of an average Ibadan Mogajis

“Ibadans have no business coming to Orile Igbon or Oyo, you and your people are the one who cannot do without visiting Ibadan ,so be warned ! Ibadan and Olubadan ki se eni a rifin

“We want to warn him, we know his history and all his antecedents before he rose to became the Olugbon, he should desist, if care is not taken, we may be force to come out more smokey with him.”
