Oyo APC Progressive Agenda Dismisses Allegations Against Alhaji Ibikunle’s SWDC Appointment
The Oyo State Progressive Agenda of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has debunked a publication by a group claiming to be “Concerned APC youths” over the appointment of Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle as Executive Director of the South West Development Commission.
The group had alleged that Alhaji Ibikunle was holding two appointments, but the APC described the claims as fake news, stating that he has only accepted the new appointment and has not been sworn in for any other position.
Reacting to the allegation of a party leader holding two appointments, the Spokesman of the state Progressive Agenda, a caucus group with the All Progressive Congress, Oyo State, disclosed that Alhaji Ibikunle has not been sworn in as a member of Code of Conduct Bureau and has never been to the office of the Board.
According to the group, the respected party chieftain only accept his appointment with South West Development Commission.
The Progressive Agenda of APC in a statement by its spokesperson, Yinka Adetoro also disclosed that Alhaji Ibikunle served for only four years as Chairman of National Lottery Regulatory Commission between 2018 and 2022 during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari as against eight years stated in the malicious publication.
He therefore charged members of the party across the state to desist from carrying rumours but seek for knowledge through correct information in order not to destabilize APC in the state.
The state Progressive Agenda of APC greatly commended President Bola Tinubu on the appointment of Alhaji Ibikunle as Executive Director, Commercial and Environmental Department of the newly established South West Development Commission with the assurance that the party chieftain will not let him down.
According to the group, “considering Alhaji Ibikunle’s wealth of experience, his positive impact will be felt by the good people of South West states and Nigeria at large” the statement added.
Mr Yinka Adetoro, however, appealed to President Tinubu to consider other party loyalists for appointment in appreciation of their unwavering support to the party.
He thereafter enjoined party members across the state to be prayerful with the hope that their appointment will come at the most appropriate time.
