Adeleke Vows to Unite Ekiti PDP, Restore Confidence

… As committee promises all-inclusive agenda for party growth

The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dare Adeleke, has pledged to reconcile aggrieved members and unite the party.

Adeleke, who stressed the need for members to join hands in the interest of the party, promised to restore confidence in the party, to regain the reins of power.

Adeleke, according to a statement by the PDP Southwest Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, made available in Ado Ekiti yesterday, spoke during the inauguration of the newly constituted caretaker committee by the party’s Southwest National Vice Chairman, Kamarudeen Ajisafe, in Ibadan on Sunday.

The caretaker chairman, who assured members of bringing together tendencies in the party, noted the committee’s readiness to hit the ground running.

He said: “Our all-inclusive agenda will include party discipline, reconciliation, unity, welfare, teamwork and renewing confidence in the party.”

Adeleke promised to ensure “a smooth transition of party leadership to Ekiti PDP leaders through the conduct of credible congresses, as directed by the party at the national level.”

Former chairman of Ekiti PDP, Alaba Agboola, who officially handed over to Adeleke on the occasion, said the task of strengthening PDP to win elections in the state required all hands on board.

The Southwest National Vice Chairman, who inaugurated the committee on behalf of the National Working Committee, expressed confidence in the newly constituted committee’s ability to harmonise, reposition and lead the party to victory.

Also speaking at the event, which was attended by party stalwarts from the six Southwest states, former Oyo State Deputy Governor Hazeem Gbolarumin urged the Ekiti Caretaker Committee to take the opportunity to make the party proud again.

PDP Southwest spokesperson Atofarati commended the leadership of the PDP under Governors Seyi Makinde and Ademola Adeleke for providing an enabling environment for the party to thrive in the region.

Atofarati said the appointment by the party’s National Working Committee of the 22-member committee, headed by Adeleke, was carried out in accordance with Section 21(2) (a-b) of the PDP Constitution.”

He listed members of the caretaker committee as Dare Adeleke (Chairman), Ayodele Joshua, Agbetuyi Joshua, Olonila Benjamin, Mrs Mojisola Omotosho, Mrs Modupe Oke and Mrs Bosede Ayodele.

Other members are Ojo Ayeni, Mrs Abeni Olayinka, Ademola Alade, Afolayan Akutupu, Bobby Jeje, Sina Animashaun, Araromi Samuel, Festus Akinbode, Ade Fajana, Ayo Oguntuase, Olanipekun Boboye, Adebayo Jackson, Ojo Fasasi and Olatunji Ayofe (secretary), with Asabo Victor as administrative secretary.
