Ibadan Explosion : Education Ministry Badly Affected—Commissioner
Oyo State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof .Salihu Adelabu, described the explosion that occurred yesterday in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, as devastating and unfortunate.
The explosion which happened at Adeyi Avenue,Old Bodija , according to the commissioner, affected almost all the offices in the Education Ministry, Secretariat,Agodi , Ibadan.
The commissioner, while inspecting the affected offices at the Ministry, said the number of offices affected in the ministry is so alarming and something very urgent needs to be done.
He called on the government to come to the aid of the ministry.
He admonished all the directors in the ministry to keep the vital documents in their offices to the store pending the renovation of their offices.
He therefore sympathizes with the residents and victims affected by the unfortunate explosion that occurred.
“The explosion destroyed Ceilings, windows, glasses, and doors.”
It was learned that the incident was caused by illegal miners who stored explosive devices in residential areas.
