Oyo govt charges Alumni Associations To Partner Govt On School Funding, Development

…commends Urban Day Gramm Sch Old Students for giving back to their Alma mater

Alumni Associations of various primary and secondary schools in Oyo State have been charged to partner with the state government in the funding and development of the education sector.

The State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Salihu Adelabu gave the charge during the commissioning of fully equipped Science Laboratories and Alumni building donated to Urban Day Grammar School by the Old Students’ Association of the school.

The commissioner, who was represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Mr. Olusanjo Adeniyi, commended the Old Students’ Association of the school for supporting the state government to promote the education sector in the state.

While applauding the Old Student for giving back to their Alma mater, Prof. Adelabu charged the school management on proper maintenance of the donated facilities.
Earlier, the President of the Association, Mr. Sanya Akande, noted that the only way to change the narratives of the nation is to invest in the coming generation, saying this will ensure that their future is guaranteed.

Speaking on behalf of the students and the school management, the Principal of the Urban Day Grammar Senior School, Mrs. Adewunmi Olabimpe and the Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Mr. Sikiru Sanda, called on other stakeholders in the education sector to emulate the good gesture of the Association.

The duo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of support for the government in its bid to take education sector to greater heights.

The School Physics Laboratory, Chemistry Laboratory and Home Economics Laboratory were named after the school’s former principals, Mrs. C. W Thomas, Mrs. Mojisola Fajemirokun, Chief Mrs. Adenrele Taiwo respectively, while the Biology Laboratory and the Alumni Hall were named after two Alumni of the school, Dr. Adesola Adeduntan and Mr. Akinbolusire Jonney.

The program also featured the presentation of awards to outstanding personalities.
