A real estate expart, Temitope Adeoye, has sought the Federal Government’s quick intervention in addressing the issue of housing deficit across Nigeria for the benefit of low income earners.

He said the step become necessary for government, because part of the main responsibilities of government include the provision affordable housing for the citizenry.

While addressing journalists during a press conference in Ibadan at the weekend, Adeoye, who is the Director, Corporate Communications and Marketing of Fendini Homes, the Developer of Rayfied Gardens City Estate, Adebayo Alao Akala GRA, Ibadan, said Nigerians, who wished to have their own houses are constrained with challenges regarding home ownership and housing development.

He said, to resolve the issue, there was need to review legislation regarding land ownership, land transfer and others, which he said, was one of the reasons people were discouraged to have land and build their houses, considering the challenges related to land acquisition.

“Another problem is cost of building materials, but we hope that this current government will find solution to it, building a house to a particular standard is key and fund have to be considered, the current state of economy regarding building materials is not favourable, let’s also reform our tax, this will assist to reduce the cost of building materials,” Adeoye posited.

Speaking on its partnership with the Oyo State Government on provision of housing estate for people, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Fendini Group, Prince Adelaja Adeoye, noted that Rayfied Gardens City Estate was a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project with the state government via the Oyo State Investment Public and Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPA).

He said the core mandate of the project is to develop decent housing estate for interested people across the globe, saying their major focus is to provide quality housing development for the people of the state.

“In our own case and in line with the state government, our estate must be standard, our estate is first of it’s kind in Oyo state because we are having both commercial and residential properties within the estate.”

“We have all what it take inside the estate, it is a technology and smart estate, most people underate Oyo state when it comes to provision of real estate, but we want to show them that we have what it takes to have standard estate in this state,” said.
