Stakeholders call on govt to implement child right law

Stakeholders have called on the government to implement the child right and persons prohibition law inorder to protect the rights of children irrespective of their gender, religion and ethnicity.

This was stated by concerned stakeholders in commemoration and celebration of ‘Day of African Child 2023, which is usually celebrated every June 16 of every year, theme of this year is “The Right of the Child in the Digital Environment”.

While addressing newsmen, the executive assistant to governor Makinde on administration, Reverend Idowu Ogedengbe, insisted that it is imperative for government to promote, facilitate and ensure that children in both public and primary schools have opportunity to comprehend and be able to make use of computer and internet of social media in a positive way.

He promised that the state government will continue to ensure that more students are taken out of the street to school.

Earlier in her address, the coordinator of Child Protection Network, Mrs Oluwatoyin Ogedengbe, admonished government to enforce and implement the right of Child to life.

She urged the government to give attention to early child education and to pay attention to primary schools education which is the foundation of a child.
