West Ham’s Michael Dare Eyes Flying Eagles Call-Up

West Ham youngster, 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐞 has expressed interest in representing Nigeria at U-20 level. The 19-year old has caught the eye in East London with impressive performances and has now set his sights set on a call up to Nigeria’s Flying Eagles camp, ahead of the the FIFA U-20 World Cup 2023.

Dare was born and raised in Nigeria’s Oyo State, before moving to England with 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐓𝐨𝐰𝐧. He was subsequently sent on loan to non-league 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐝 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬, where he quickly caught the attention of scouts from 𝐖𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐚𝐦 and got offered a spot on the club’s ranks.

He has been described as tricky and pacy, while also possessing the agility required to cope with the demands of the modern day left winger. His dream is to represent his country of birth at youth level and proceed to the senior national team, the Super Eagles one day. He believes that his skills can make an impact on the international stage, and is determined to get there.

In recent interviews, Dare has expressed his desire to be noticed by the Head Coach of Nigeria’s national U-20s team, Ladan Bosso. He understands that the competition is tough, with many talented players vying for a spot on the squad, but remains optimistic that his performance at club level will speak for itself and result in a call up.

Nigeria have qualified for the FIFA U-20 World Cup alongside AFCON U-20 champions Senegal and runners up Gambia, as well as 4th placed Tunisia for the showpiece starting May 20, through to June 11, 2023.
