Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai has revealed the name of the politician the presidential palace cabal hoped to succeed at the end of President Muhammad Buhari’s term.
According to El-Rufai, elements of the Aso rock would be the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, if the party ticket was moved south, and Senate Speaker Ahmad Ahmad if the ticket was moved north.
In an interview with Premium Times, El-Rufai said the plan fell through as two of his favorites lost to Bola Tinubu in the APC presidential primary.
When asked about President Buhari’s relationship with APC presidential candidate Tinubu, El-Rufai insisted there was no complication in the president’s stance on the former Lagos state governor.
He said President Buhari will never oppose any APC candidate, even if that candidate is the devil himself.
