VIDEO: Excitement as wife of Oyo deputy governor distributes staple food to over 100 widows

To cushion the effects of high cost of foods items as the commemoration of Christmas draws nearer, the wife of Oyo State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Ajibola Lawal has commenced the distribution of staple foods which include Yam, rice, beans, garri, mat, sorghum and maize to widows and vulnerable people.

The disclosure was made by Mrs Lawal while addressing a group of women in Kute area in Ibadan on Thursday, adding that more than 100 widows would be beneficiaries in the distribution.

MOUTHPIECE NGR understands that the Yeye Bamofin of Kishi land is a mother figure and as such concerned about the hardships people are battling with, especially widows at this very critical time of the year.

According to her, “Considering the condition our people found themselves, especially the widows in this biting economic conditions which greatly affect the poor, less privileged and other vulnerable groups, Makinde-led government would not turn a blind eye.

“We are not unmindful of the yearnings of our people. It is therefore against this backdrop that we deemed it fit to intervene in our way in order to bring succour to widows and less privileged.”- she added.

One of the beneficiaries commended the wife of deputy governor for her continued commitment towards supporting the poor, adding that she is indeed a role model for all.

“I am grateful and we are all, too. This intervention would go a long way to cushion the effect of socioeconomic hardship bedeveling vast majority of people in the land.

Mrs Lawal however hinted that the gesture would be extended to other parts of the state, pointing out that the welfare of women and widows in the state remained important.

She guaranteed that all of their messages on the empowerment of widows and women will be delivered to His Excellency, the Deputy Governor while asking them to make good use of their PVC on Election Day in order to re-elect Governor Makinde and other PDP candidates.

She also stated that she will work on the Garri processing factory for women whilst assuring them that their message will also be relayed concerning the terrible road leading to the community which is the Alao Akala, Akobo area.
