Why PDP won’t sanction Wike, others – Party officials
A piece of fresh information has emerged indicating that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will not punish the five aggrieved governors on the platform of the party for their antagonism and utterances.
POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the unhappy governors are Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Nyesom Wike, (Rivers), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde, (Oyo), and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).
A former Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOTs) of the party who is also a current member, Bode George, stated that caution must remain the watchword as the party intensifies moves to pacify the aggrieved governors and their allies ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“As an elder, we will continue to appeal to Ayu to put on his thinking cap. Atiku should remain a nationalist because he wants to govern Nigeria.
“Even if the party wants to do so (sanction them), the time is not now,” Punch quotes George as saying.
Speaking in a similar vein, the Deputy National Youth Leader of the PDP, Timothy Osadolor, said, “The party in its wisdom has decided to tolerate them.”
Also, Ibrahim Tsauri, a member of the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) and former National Secretary, counseled the party to continue to explore the path of reconciliation.
