2023 Election: I Will Restore Nigeria’s Lost Glory ― Saraki

From Ogundele Olanrewaju

A former President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, has pledged to restore Nigeria’s lost glory if he emerges as the next President of the country in next year’s presidential election.

Saraki, a presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) noted that the present administration in the country has failed to address and find a lasting solution to the myriad problems confronting the country.

The former Senate President who was represented by a former National Chairman of the PDP, Alhaji Abubakar Baraje, said the nation’s economy was in shambles noting that the nation’s debt profile has kept surging.

According to Baraje, Saraki was the first person to raise the alarm over the payment of fuel subsidy by the federal government, describing it as scam, saying some people in power are making billions out of it.

He lamented that payment of oil subsidy has tripled under the APC led administration, noting that successive administrations had continued with fuel subsidy payments despite the damage it has caused the nation’s revenue and economy.

He frowned over the spate of insecurity in the land saying almost seven years at the helms of affair, insecurity has worsened beyond the Boko Haram insurgency under the watch of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government.

While soliciting for the support of the Ondo state delegates, Baraje described Saraki as the best person for the job who can unify and develop the country, if given opportunity to become President, saying the APC led government has been dishonest in all sectors of the country’s economy.

He told the party’s delegates that Saraki remains one of them as his mother hailed from Owo while his wife is from Ondo town and said the state would benefit from his presidency.

He said: “We are here because Ondo State is our biggest masquerade. We know Ondo State is for Bukola Saraki. There is nowhere we have been to that the delegates will not say Saraki is the best aspirants of them all.

“Your son is the answer to Nigeria problems. He has the audacity to do what is right. We want you to ensure 100 per cent of the delegates in Ondo State do the needful and vote for Saraki.

“He will be able to deliver on promises. He performed creditably well as Senate President and has remained the best Senate President in our recent history.

The Chairman of the PDP in the state, Adams Fatai, said Saraki is a son of Ondo State, saying delegates from the state has no reason not to support Saraki.

“He proved what separation of powers means. He is a bridge-builder which was why he succeeded as Senate President. We will never abandon him. Nigeria is bleeding. We need people that can fix the country.”
