Olubadan: OYRTMA Advises Motorists to ply alternative routes over imminent road congestion on Saturday

Oyo state Road Transport management authority has advised commuters to avoid Ring road through Jogor centre to Oke Ado tomorrow except those intending to attend the late Olubadan’s burial event to find alternative route to their destination.

This was stated by the executive chairman Oyo state Road Transport management authority, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi while addressing Journalists to inform the general public of the likelihood traffic congestion tomorrow at Obafemi Awolowo stadium, (Liberty) Oke-Ado Ibadan.

Fagbemi asserted that commuters that does not have anything to do at the event tomorrow, should avoid the stadium and its environ between 10am till 6pm to avoid been unnecessarily stock in traffic jam.

He further advised commuters to drive carefully and slowly as men and officers of OYRTMA in conjunction with other security agencies would be at strategic locations along the route to maintain orderliness and ensure free flow of traffic.

Fagbemi assured members of the public that OYRTMA and other security agencies would be atop of the anticipated traffic situation and ensure safety of lives and properties and further Implored all members of the public to stay vigilant and say something when the discover something strange.
The OYRTMA statement Read : “This is to inform the general public of the likelihood of traffic congestion tomorrow 12th February, 2022 at adjoining routes to the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (Liberty) Oke-Ado, Ibadan Southwest Local Government Area of Oyo State and its environs.

“This projection became necessary as a result of the high volume of persons and vehicles expected to pay their last respect to the deceased paramount ruler of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Soliu Akanmu Adetunji Aje Oguguniso 1 whose final burial rights would be exercised at the Stadium between 1000hours and 1600hours.

“Motorists are strongly advised to drive carefully and slowly as men and officers of OYRTMA in conjunction with other security agencies would be at strategic locations along to route to maintain orderliness and ensure free flow of traffic.

“For commuters that do not have intension of attending the event, taking alternative routes to avoid the stadium and it’s environs is highly recommended particularly between the aforementioned hours to avoid been unnecessarily stock in traffic jam.

“Some flagged locations where traffic is expected to be high include the following areas:

“The route from Ring-Road through Jogor Center to Oke Ado should be avoided tomorrow, except those that are going for the burial ceremony.

“While we assure members of the general public that we shall stay atop of the anticipated traffic situation and ensure safety of lives and properties, we implore all to stay vigilant and say something if they see something.
