2022 Niger Budget of Borrowing: PDP cautions Gov. Sani Bello against N100billion loan.

The people’s Democratic Party is once again vindicated by the revelation coming from the Niger State Government, through the State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning, Alhaji Zakari Abubakar, that the Niger state 2022 budget is to be financed by borrowing of more than 50% of the N198.2 billion proposed 2022 budget which is to amount to over N100 billion loan.

The PDP makes haste to say that this unacceptable and deliberate attempt by the incompetent APC led administration of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to plunge the state further into debt as his tenure expires in 2023.

The PDP has being disturbed by the lack of transparency in the administration of previous 6 years budgets that has seen over N807 billion signed budgets with nothing to show.

As if that is not enough, only recently Niger state Government got approval of almost N50billion IDB loan, add that to other sundry debts, Niger state will be indebted to the tune of over N200 billion by the end of 2022, who knows what will be taken in 2023 again?

The PDP frowns at such a mis-governance and call on Governor Sani Bello to shelve the idea of borrowing, since clearly he has lost touch with modern day art of Governance and his auto pilot Government is already on quit notice. What is he borrowing for? How does he intend to pay back?

The PDP calls on the Niger state House of Assembly to expunge all items that are humongous and bear any relationship to loans from the budget before passage.

All well meaning Nigerlites should raise up and speak with one voice to rescue the state from Mismanagement.
