Oyo APC Congress: INEC REC arrives venue, congress to commence soon

The Residents Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent Electoral Commissions (INEC) in Oyo State, Mutiu Agboke has arrived venue of today’s Oyo State All Progressive Congress (APC) election, assuring members of the party that the congress will commence as scheduled.

He stated that the statutory role of INEC in the congress is to watched, monitored, and observed, adding that the commission will write and send report of whatever that transpired in the congress to it’s national headquarters in Abuja.

Speaking with journalists at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan, Agboke said that INEC headquarters in Abuja has directed that the scheduled date for APC Congress in the state is 30th of October.

According to him, the congress was earlier scheduled to holds at the state seceteriat of the party, but the exco of the party wrote to us to changed the venue to Liverty stadium because of their internal arrangements.

“We are here to monitor if the congress is taking place and we can see that it is taking place, INEC is not here to conduct the election but to monitor the election, our job here is to look, monitor and observe and to take note of what ever happened and thereafter write our report and send it to the head office in Abuja.”
