Former Kano Governor Speaks on Defection From PDP to APC Ahead of 2023

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, former governor of Kano state, has spoken on the possibility of defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2023.

Appearing as a guest on Arise News TV on Friday, October, the former governor was asked if he will consider returning to the APC amid the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Responding, Kwankwaso said:“I am still a member of the PDP.”

Senator Kwankwaso, who is also the leader of the Kwankwasiyya political movement said he is still a member of the PDP and will continue to work with his colleagues to ensure the party succeeds.

Just recently the former governor of Kano state said he is ready to work with the senator representing Kano Central and former governor of the state, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, ahead of 2023.

Daily Trust reports that Kwankwaso also said he was not surprised with the crisis rocking the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano between Governor Ganduje and the senator.

The PDP chieftain said his successor (Ganduje) refused to pay good things done to him.

Speaking on whether they would still meet in the same political camp, Kwankwaso said he would not be surprised because if God destined it to happen it will still happen, adding that if not they would move on and thank Almighty God.

Kwankwaso explained that he had been silent in the PDP because of injustice done in electing leaders in the Kaduna chapter of the party.

The Kano state former governor said after they conducted the elections,some of the selfish leaders decided to create problems for Kano leadership, which he said, had been resolved.

Kwankwaso also spoke on the suit by Uche Secondus,suspended PDP national chairman, asking the court to suspend the party’s national convention.

The former governor said he had advised the PDP to allow Secondus and his team to complete their term since they have just a few months left, adding that the current crisis would have been averted if his advice was heeded.

Kwankwaso said Secondus’ suit has created uncertainty which is not good for the party’s convention as people who are supposed to be in Abuja are somewhere else waiting for the court verdict which is expected on Friday, October 29.
