2023 General Elections : Oyo REC assures OYSIEC Of working relationship

The Resident Electoral Commissioner, Oyo State,Dr.Adeniran Rahmon,on Tuesday assured the leadership of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission ( OYSIEC) of continuous working relationship in the area of election management.
Dr. Rahmon gave the assurance while playing host to the leadership of Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission,(OYSIEC) at the Commission’s headquarter, Ibadan .
He explained that both INEC and OYSIEC operate on the same frequency, hence, there is need to build on existing relationship between the electoral empires for successful poll.
He stated that the preparation for 2023 general election is in advance stage,adding that plans are underway to conduct mock election in some selected local governments in the state .
Dr.Rahmon noted further that election would be conducted under new electoral law and guided by new technology to enhance transparency .
He expressed readiness of INEC to partner with OYSIEC in necessary areas so as to have credible and transparent election.
In his remarks, the Chairman , Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission,(OYSIEC), Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju , SAN, said the visit was meant to interface with the new leadership of INEC and see how OYSIEC can assist in achieving success during 2023 general elections.
Olagunju,who described the visit as obligatory, said the commission is on the verge of finalizing the review of its electoral law to meet modern voting trend.
He added that the amended bill has been forwarded to the Oyo State House of Assembly for further necessary action.
