2023: NANS declares support for Makinde’s second term bid
The National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Oyo State chapter has declared their support for the re-election of Governor Seyi Makinde in 2023.
Comrade Adeleke while speaking on behalf of all students across all the tertiary institutions in the state made the pledge on Wednesday during a solidarity rally to the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan in commemoration of the International Students’ Day 2022.
According to him, Governor Makinde has done excellently well for students in the state stating that one good turn deserves another.
In his remarks, Governor Seyi Makinde lauded the students for their support and cooperation since the inception of his administration.
Makinde who was represented by his deputy governor, Barrister Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal while addressing the students stated that the present administration will continue to promote students welfare.
Speaking further, Makinde declared that he has been running a collaborative government with the students and not a constituted authority.
He assured the students that the present administration will not renege on prompt payment of bursary and pledged to donate buses to students union of various higher institutions of learning in the state.
He urged the students to get their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and be ready to defend the votes in 2023.
Delivering his welcome address, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Students Affairs, Hon Victor Olojede said the students body gave approval for the celebration of the 2022 International Students’Day adding that the students decided to stage the solidarity rally to declare their support for the re-election of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde.
Other government functionaries who joined the Deputy Governor to receive the students include, Secretary to the State Government, Olubanwo Adeosun, Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon Demola Ojo, Director- General Due Process, Ms Tara Adefope, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Abdulraheem Abdulraham, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Engineer Seun Fakorede, Executive Assistant on Security Matter, Sunday Odukoya, Special Adviser on Tourism, Hon Akeem Ige, Special Assistant on Community Relation, Hon Femi Josiah, Special Assistant on Islamic Affairs Alhaji Abdurasheed among others.
