Ahead Of NSF: Oyo Athletic Boss, Ogada Organises Trials, Assures On Good Outing

The Chairman of Oyo State Athletic Association, Dr. Ogada Issac Friday has assured of a good outing from the athletes that will be representing the state when the National Sports Festival tagged: ‘Asaba 2022’ gets underway in Delta State.
Ogada who recently organized and sponsored a trials athletics event at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex to select good and qualified athletes hinged his optimism on the quality and high standard of the runners majorly scouted from secondary schools and tertiary institutions in the state.
“The initiative is aimed at catching them young at the grassroots so as to discover and nurture young talents to stardom. And also a compliment to the effort of the sports loving governor, who is currently building world class sports facilities across the state”, said Oyo Athletic boss.
He added that “Our home grown athletes, the young boys and girls discovered from secondary schools have grown and can now compete at the highest level. With God on our side and support of our sports loving governor, Oyo state will surely give a wonderful showing in the next National sports festival”,
“Kudos to the coaches led by the hardworking and internationally experienced Emilia Oyase, the association secretary; Gbemi Tabi and technical director Raji Ismail. We also appreciate the assistance of Coach Soetan in putting some of the athletes in good shape.
“The support of the hierarchy Oyo State Sports Council led by the Chairman Gbenga Adewusi Arole, the General Manager, Gboyega Makinde, the Director of Training Mr. Tunde Popoola, the head of admin Mr. kehinde Ojelowo, and the team doctors and other officials and backroom staff can never be over emphasized”.
“Oyo state performed creditably well in athletics at the last National Youth Games held at the University of Ilorin, and we are determined to consolidate on that performance and do even better”, he concluded.
