I will Mobilize Against Moves to Remove Ayu as PDP National Chairman” -PDP Leader, Fabiyi
From Ogundele Olanrewaju
A chieftain of the PDP has vowed to mobilize against moves seeking to remove Iyorchia Ayu as the national chairman of the PDP. Speaking on AIT News, Fabiyi Oladimeji said removing Ayu may pose grave consequences for the party’s chances ahead of the 2023 presidential election.
Addressing the topic, Oladimeji said, “I have been in the PDP since 1999 and I know that we removed the national chairmen midway on many occasions and it is not a good tradition. Before Ayu became the national chairman, a group of leaders removed Secondus because they did not want him. I do not want that tradition to continue within the PDP. Ayu was elected to a 4-year term. Why do we need to remove him now?
He continued, “We are facing an election and you can not talk about the chairman or the NWC resigning at this point. I do not think that should be our priority for now. You can organize a mid-term convention if the PDP wins, as it has happened before. Removing the national chairman now may bring huge confusion and destruction to the process, as Ayu can take the matter to court. We, the young stakeholders of the PDP, will not allow this to fly. I will not support it, and I will mobilize against the move to remove Ayu as PDP national chairman. I am not speaking for Ayu or the NWC, but we simply can not afford such confusion at the moment. Winning the election is our priority.
