SDP South West leaders hail suspension of Olu Agunloye, endorse Gabam as acting National Chairman

Leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) South West lauded the suspension of Dr Olu Agunloye from the party over alleged anti-party activities and fraud.
The embattled SDP leader was suspended by his ward and the Ondo State Executive Committee.
Meanwhile, after the emergency meeting on Saturday, 24th April, 2022 at Ibadan, the South West leaders of the party having considered the gravity of offence with which Dr. Agunloye was suspended upheld that he remain suspended.
In a statement which was signed after the meeting by Hon. Femi Olaniyi (Ferarri), Chairman, SDP, Lagos State Chapter, and obtained by CAPITAL POST on Sunday, also endorsed Alhaji Shehu Gabam as acting National Chairman.
Part of the statement read: “That the suspension of Dr Olu Agunloye from SDP, as a result of allegations of fraud and anti-party activities by his Ward and Ondo State Executive Committees of the party, is hereby accepted, endorsed and upheld by the SW chapter of the party.

“That the unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional swapping of positions between Dr Olu Agunloye and Alhaji Shehu Gabam is hereby rejected in its entirety.
“That the Acting capacity of Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as the National Chairman, pending the conduct of the next National Convention, as a result of Dr Agunloye’s face-saving resignation is hereby accepted.
“That a vote of no confidence is hereby unanimously passed on Dr Olu Agunloye, who should never dream of parading himself as the National Secretary of SDP.
“That the NWC of the party is hereby mandatorily requested to call for the nomination of a responsible, law-abiding and befitting party Chieftain from the SW to occupy the position of National Secretary of the party as a matter of urgency.
“That henceforth there should be no more factions in the party throughout the SW zone”, the statement concluded.
