The Management of Mikano International Limited, Nigeria’s largest assembler of power generating sets has again commended activities of the Oyo State Road Transport Management Authority (OYRTMA) for improvising numerous policies and operational procedures that has significantly aided the apparent reduction of road traffic accidents in Nigeria and Oyo State in particular.
This was disclosed earlier today at the Administrative Headquarters of the Authority, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan when Management of Mikano presented several Traffic-Warden-Cubicles to further support men and officers of the Authority who are always on the roads maintaining law and order as well as ensuring free human and vehicular movement across the State.
The company, speaking through its State representative commended the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde for providing sterling leadership that has catapulted the State, especially OYRTMA to a lofty height that many other States in Nigeria now emulates.
In his words, the Mikano Chief said: “I must on behalf of the management and staff of Mikano International Limited laud the present administration in Oyo State for her serious-mindedness, focus and dedication to the growth and development of its people which is evidenced by the government’s continuous strive to improve the Standard of Living of the citizens.
Particularly, we have observed with keen interest the enhanced activities and effectiveness of the State Transport Agency, OYRTMA and we are here to give our own support particularly as we gravitate towards the raining season which is usually characterized by low visibility, rushes and impatient road users which in our observation usually lead to pressure on the Agency’s resources, both Men and machineries and as such, we are here to officially donate this traffic warden cubicles to the Glory of God, the use of the Authority and to the benefit of the people of Oyo State and Nigeria”, the representative said.
In his own remarks, the Executive Chairman of OYRTMA, Mogaji Akin Fagbemi PhD., on behalf of the Oyo State Government appreciated the company for its benevolence and support.
He noted that Mikano has been a long time partner of the Authority and expressed gratitude that the company could neglect the general economic situation in the country and still embark on such a humanitarian endeavor of gifting the traffic-warden-cubicles to the Authority.
“On behalf of His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde, the entire Government and people of Oyo State, we appreciate this gesture. It is our sincere hope that we shall be able to justify the huge confidence your company has reposed in us through this philanthropic act. Men and Officers of the Authority will take this as a call to do even more towards ensuring adequate road safety and effective traffic management during and after the raining season’, Fagbemi said.
In addition, the OYRTMA boss harped on the need for motorists to drive more carefully particularly as driver’s visibility would be affected in the rainy days advising drivers to “Leave early, Drive Slowly and Arrive Safely knowing well that the vigilance of everyone means safety for all while negligence of anyone portends danger to all”.
