Oyo Police Nab 17-Year-Old Over Alleged Defilement of Three-Year-Old Girl

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old male suspect, identified as Usman Dauda, over the alleged defilement of a three-year-old girl in Saki, Oyo State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday, September 24, 2026, saying the suspect was arrested following a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17.

According to the statement, the child reportedly went missing while being picked up from school earlier that afternoon, prompting a localized search which led to her recovery along a roadside in a distressed condition.

The Police said preliminary inquiries revealed that the suspect allegedly forcefully took the child into his apartment, where the offence was reportedly committed.

Detectives subsequently visited and secured the scene, leading to the arrest of the suspect and recovery of physical evidence linked to the alleged offence.

The Command said the child was immediately taken to a medical facility in Saki, where she is receiving medical treatment and psychotherapeutic care, while her identity and privacy are being protected in accordance with child protection laws and ethical guidelines.

The Police said the case has been transferred to the Gender Desk of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.

The Command reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards child abuse and sexual violence, urging residents to promptly report cases of violence against children and other vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
