Democracy Day: PDP Chieftain Urges Nigerians to Defend Democratic Values

A South-West Ex-Officio of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Ambassador Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, has called on Nigerians to uphold democratic values and participate actively in the nation’s democratic process.
In a Democracy Day message, Prince Ewenla congratulated Nigerians and members of the PDP across all levels of the party structure, describing the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of those who fought for democratic governance, justice, freedom, and credible elections in the country.
He urged members of the PDP to remain united, peaceful, and committed to the party’s ideals, noting that unity remains the strength of the opposition party and a key factor in providing a credible alternative for Nigerians.
The PDP chieftain also encouraged eligible voters to obtain and update their Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs, stressing that the voter card remains a powerful tool for citizens to influence governance through the ballot box.
Prince Ewenla further appealed to Nigerians to remain vigilant and security conscious, urging them to promptly report suspicious activities and individuals to security agencies to help maintain peace and safety in their communities.
Speaking on the state of the nation, he expressed concern over the economic hardship, insecurity, rising cost of living, and unemployment facing many Nigerians.
He criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu, alleging that it had fallen short of public expectations, particularly in the areas of security and economic management.
Prince Ewenla maintained that the Peoples Democratic Party must continue to work towards rebuilding public confidence by promoting good governance, accountability, and people-oriented leadership.
He expressed optimism that the PDP could regain national leadership through unity, effective mobilization, and stronger party structures, while placing the interests of Nigerians above personal considerations.
The PDP South-West Ex-Officio also prayed for peace, progress, and prosperity for Nigeria as the country marks Democracy Day.
