Oyo 2027: Adegoke Wins ADC Governorship Ticket

…As Ibadan chief defeats Ilaka, vows infrastructure renewal

Chief Taofeek Adegboyega Adegoke has emerged as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the forthcoming election in Oyo State following the party’s primary election.

Adegoke, an Ibadan traditional chief, defeated other aspirants, including Adebisi Olopoeyan Ilaka, in the keenly contested exercise.

Announcing the results, Chairman of the screening committee, Rasak Salinsile, disclosed that Adegoke secured 16,051 votes to emerge victorious, while Ilaka polled 11,415 votes.
Gbemileke Alagbe came third with 241 votes.

Former Oyo State Commissioner for Health, Azeez Adeduntan, garnered 155 votes, while Niyi Aborisade secured 67 votes.

The emergence of Adegoke as the ADC flag bearer is expected to influence the political landscape ahead of the governorship election in the state.

Speaking after the announcement of the results, Adegoke expressed gratitude to party members for the confidence reposed in him and called on ADC members to mobilise support and sensitise the electorate ahead of the election.

He pledged that his administration would focus on infrastructural development, urban renewal, security, healthcare, education and road construction across the state.

“Oyo State will witness massive development. Urban renewal, security, the health sector, education and roads will not be neglected,” he stated.

Adegoke also appreciated the national leadership of the party, including former Senate President David Mark, former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for their support.

“The leadership of ADC under David Mark, Mr Rauf Aregbesola and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar will not regret my candidacy,” he said.

He further assured residents of the state that his administration would tackle insecurity and other challenges confronting the state, expressing optimism about emerging victorious in the 2027 governorship election.
