Oyo Reps Member, Odidiomo, NITDA Train 200 Youths in AI, Cyber-security Skills in Ibadan

…As Participants urged to maximise skills for self-reliance

The Federal Government has trained 200 youths in Oyo State in digital marketing, cybersecurity basics, remote work, and technology-enabled entrepreneurship as part of efforts to build a future-ready society.

The digital literacy and empowerment programme was facilitated by the lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal Constituency, Hon. Stanley Olajide, in collaboration with the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).

Speaking on the initiative, Olajide, who chairs the House Committee on Digital, Information Communication Technology and Cybersecurity, said his priorities include establishing tech and innovation hubs to position Ibadan as the technology capital of the South-West.

He described the programme as a response to the challenge of youth unemployment and the urgent need to bridge the digital divide, urging beneficiaries to make effective use of the training and tools provided.

Earlier, a representative of NITDA, Mr. Eedris Faruk, said participants were equipped with skills in digital literacy, artificial intelligence, responsible platform use, and online business setup to enhance education, entrepreneurship, and employment opportunities.

Some participants called for sustained digital skills training, stressing the importance of continuous knowledge sharing and practical application in empowering young people.

At the end of the 10-day training, participants were provided with laptops and financial support to kick-start their digital careers.
