…Oyedele elevated as President pushes renewed economic agenda

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), effecting key changes in the finance and housing ministries as part of efforts to strengthen governance and economic delivery.

The decision, announced in a memo signed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, confirms the exit of Mr. Wale Edun and Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa from the cabinet, alongside the appointment of their respective replacements.

Mr. Edun, who served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been directed to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who is now elevated to assume the position. Oyedele previously held office as Minister of State in the ministry.

In a related development, Mr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been named ministerial nominee and minister designate for the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, replacing Dangiwa, who has been asked to hand over to the Minister of State in the ministry.

The memo directed that all handover processes be completed on or before April 23, 2026.

According to Akume, the reshuffle is aimed at “strengthening cohesion and synergy in governance, as well as ensuring more impactful economic delivery to Nigerians under the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He added that the President exercised his constitutional powers under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in approving the changes.

President Tinubu also commended the outgoing ministers for their service to the nation and wished them success in their future endeavors, while assuring that efforts to reinvigorate the cabinet would remain ongoing.
