Aleshinloye Promises Equity, Inclusiveness in Federal Opportunities

…As Commissioner calls for transparency, stakeholder support in enforcing equity across government institutions

…Says Federal Character Commission will intensify monitoring of recruitment and appointments.

The Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, has reaffirmed his commitment to promoting fairness, equity, and balanced representation in federal appointments and distribution of national opportunities.

Speaking during a press conference and inaugural meeting with staff of the Federal Character Commission in Oyo State, Aleshinloye said the Commission remains committed to enforcing the Federal Character principle as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to him, the Commission, which was inaugurated on January 22, 2026 under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, has intensified efforts to ensure strict compliance with federal character guidelines across ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

He noted that the Commission’s responsibilities go beyond employment opportunities, stressing that it also covers equitable distribution of infrastructure, social amenities, policy implementation, and access to national resources among all states and ethnic groups in the country.

Aleshinloye explained that the Federal Character principle remains a vital tool for promoting unity, inclusiveness, and national integration in Nigeria’s diverse society.

“The Commission has continued to engage relevant stakeholders and federal institutions to improve transparency and ensure adherence to federal character guidelines, thereby strengthening public confidence in government institutions,” he said.

He further assured the people of Oyo State that their interests would be adequately represented at the Commission, while emphasizing the importance of merit, competence, and professionalism in public service.

The Commissioner also called on government institutions, civil society organisations, political leaders, and citizens to support policies and initiatives that promote fairness, transparency, and national cohesion.

He urged federal establishments across the country to comply with the guidelines and directives of the Commission in order to ensure justice and inclusiveness in governance.

Addressing staff of the Federal Character Commission in Oyo State, Aleshinloye encouraged them to remain professional, transparent, and dedicated to their duties, noting that their role is critical in implementing the Commission’s policies and strengthening monitoring mechanisms.

He also commended the media for its role in informing the public and promoting democratic accountability.

Aleshinloye expressed gratitude to Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment as Federal Character Commissioner representing Oyo State.

He pledged to discharge his responsibilities diligently in line with the constitutional mandate of the Commission.

The Commissioner urged Nigerians to remain committed to unity, peace, and fairness as the nation continues to work towards progress and prosperity.
