A former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Moses Adeyemo, has emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

The announcement was made by Afeez Bolaji, a former APC National Youth Leader and Secretary of the party’s ad hoc zoning committee.

The congress was conducted under the supervision of a committee constituted by the party’s national leadership in Abuja.

Speaking with Journalist, Party leaders at the event emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation within the APC, urged members to close ranks and work collectively toward rebuilding the party’s strength across Oyo State.

The newly elected executives were charged to focus on internal cohesion, effective grassroots mobilization, and strategic engagement with voters as the party prepares for future elections.

Stakeholders expressed optimism that the new leadership would revitalize party structures at the ward and local government levels, while also expanding its political influence throughout the state.

In his acceptance speech, Adeyemo pledged to run an inclusive administration that would accommodate all tendencies within the party, promised to prioritize unity, discipline, and grassroots mobilization, assuring members that the new executive would reposition the APC as a formidable political force in the state.

Also elected at the congress was Wasiu Olawale Sadare, who retained his position as Publicity Secretary. Dr. Taofeek Lamidi emerged as Deputy Chairman, while Hon. Lukman Owonikoko was announced as State Secretary, alongside other executive members.

Chief Adeyemo previously served as Deputy Governor of Oyo State from 2011 to 2019 under the administration of the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi.

Recall that stakeholders in the party had earlier agreed on a zoning arrangement ahead of the congress.

According to a statement made available to newsmen by the party’s publicity secretary, Olawale Sadare, the decision followed consultations among key leaders of the party across the 33 local government areas of the state.

He disclosed that an ad hoc zoning committee was constituted to allocate positions in the State Executive Committee among the local government chapters.

The committee is chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, with Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete serving as secretary. Other members are Idris Adeoye, Adesoji Adedeji, Ajiboye Sangogade and Akeem Olatunji.
