Man Nabbed for Alleged Rape, Threat to Life in Iganna

…As Police say suspect broke into victim’s room, confessed to crime

Oyo State Police Command has arrested a man of 24 years of age, Ogunwande Sodiq in connection with an alleged case of rape and threat to life reported in the Iganna area of the State.

According to reports, the suspect allegedly broke into the room of an 18-year-old female, threatened her with a knife, and forcefully raped her.

The statement further noted that the victim was promptly rescued and taken to a medical facility for comprehensive medical examination and socio-psychological evaluation.

According tothe statement, the suspect has been arrested and confessed to the crime.

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Command, directed that the matter be transferred to the Command Gender Desk, Ibadan, for discreet and thorough investigation.

The Oyo State Police Command condemns the act of sexual violence and threat to life, and assures that the suspect will face the full weight of the law, urged the public to remain vigilant and report cases of sexual violence and other criminal acts to the nearest police station.
