Buhari Approves Appointment of New Minister
President Muhammadu Buhari has named the current minister of Environment, Mohammad Mahmood Abubakar as the new Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development.
He also appointed Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, Minister of State, Works & Housing as the news Minister of Power. Both are expected to return to work right away. The President made the surprise move, according to the source, after reports of inefficiency and poor management on the path of the now-ex-ministers. President Buhari justified the move by stating that it was in keeping with the “tradition of subjecting our projects and programmes implementation to independent and critical self-review” during Cabinet meetings and retreats.
“These significant review steps have assisted in identifying and strengthening weak areas, closing gaps, building cohesion and synergy in governance, managing the economy, and improving the delivery of public goods to Nigerians,” he continued
