Mrs Makinde Marks Birth of First Babies in Oyo State, Presents Gifts, Cash to Mothers

The Wife of the Governor of Oyo State, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, has marked the birth of the first babies of the year with visits to selected state-owned hospitals in Ibadan.
Mrs Makinde visited the Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, Yemetu; Adaramagbo Primary Health Care Centre, Olomi; and the General Hospital, Moniya, where she presented New Year gifts to newborn babies and their mothers.
The First Lady was represented during the visits by the Head of Service, Mrs Olubunmi Oni.
Speaking at the hospitals, she described childbirth as a priceless and exceptional gift from God, noting that life is sacred and cannot be created by any human being.
She expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery of the babies, including a set of twins delivered through a caesarean section.
According to her, the first baby of the year was delivered at one minute past midnight on New Year’s Day to Mrs Bilikisu Lamidi.
The second baby was delivered at forty-six minutes past midnight to Mrs Olajire Rihanat, while the third baby was delivered at about ten minutes to five in the morning to Mrs Musa Ummukhairi.
Mrs Makinde congratulated the new mothers and urged them to cherish their children, ensure complete immunization, practice exclusive breastfeeding, and attend postnatal clinics regularly.
She emphasized the importance of postnatal care, noting that postnatal clinics provide opportunities for mothers to share experiences, receive support, and address challenges such as postnatal depression.
Describing the newborns as special gifts from heaven, the First Lady also commended the parents, families, and healthcare workers for their dedication and commitment to ensuring safe deliveries.
In addition, Mrs Makinde presented baby-care hampers and cash gifts to the nursing mothers to support the care of their newborns.
The first nursing mother received the sum of three hundred thousand naira, the second received two hundred and fifty thousand naira, while the third nursing mother received two hundred thousand naira.
