PDP Reaffirms National Convention Will Hold in Ibadan This Weekend

…As PDP says APC behind false claims, vows to resist attempts to disrupt convention.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed that its 2025 National Convention will go on as scheduled this weekend in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, despite reports suggesting a postponement.

In a statement jointly issued by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), which was signed by Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the PDP National Publicity Secretary and Secretary of the Publicity and Communication Sub-Committee of the NCOC, the party dismissed claims of a possible shift in date as “false and misleading,” describing them as part of a plot allegedly orchestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to destabilize the opposition.

The convention, according to the PDP, will take place from Saturday, November 15 to Sunday, November 16, 2025, with delegates, party leaders, and supporters already arriving in Ibadan for the event.

“The 2025 National Convention of the PDP has not been postponed but will go on as scheduled,” the statement read.

“We urge our members and Nigerians to disregard misleading claims being peddled by individuals recruited by the APC in its failed attempt to stop the PDP National Convention.”

The opposition party accused the APC of attempting to impose a one-party state on the nation, adding that such efforts would be “lawfully resisted.”

The PDP emphasized that preparations are in top gear, with both the NWC and NCOC “working round the clock” to ensure a successful convention.

While expressing gratitude to Nigerians for their continued support, the party extended a warm welcome to all delegates, officials, and supporters attending the event.
