Nigerians Must Stop Relocating to Cairo and Other Arabian Countries | Dr. Adedipe Dauda Ewenla

has raised serious alarm over the dangers faced by Nigerians and Africans in Cairo, Egypt, and across many Arabian countries.

He cautions that life in these places is nothing short of exploitation, abuse, and in many cases, death.

In recent times, a disturbing trend has emerged, with many Nigerians, especially young ladies, migrating to Cairo in search of greener pastures. Unfortunately, what they experience is far from the promises made to them.

“The reality is clear: life in Cairo is extremely dangerous for Nigerians and Africans. Reports of Nigerians dying almost daily in Cairo cannot be ignored. Many who traveled there in search of better opportunities are frustrated, some even losing their sanity under the harsh conditions.

Worse still, there are confirmed cases of illegal kidney harvesting and organ trafficking targeting desperate Africans in Egypt,” Ewenla said.

Beyond Egypt, the situation in most Arabian countries is equally alarming. These countries do not provide basic rights or fair treatment to Africans.

Migrants are denied medical rights, have no accommodation rights, and are treated as second-class human beings.

“Even for Muslims, marriage to their sons or daughters is practically impossible a clear indication that integration or equality is not welcomed,” he stressed.

The jobs available for Nigerians in Cairo are highly exploitative, paying as little as the equivalent of ₦70,000, which is both inconvenient and demeaning compared to the suffering endured. In many cases, Nigerian ladies are trafficked, used, and even sold for money rituals by ruthless syndicates.

Dr Adedipe Dauda Ewenla was quick to clarify that this warning is not about blackmailing Muslims or Islam as a faith.

“It is not about blackmailing Muslims, as I practice all religions, but the truth must be told. Islamic countries must start treating people as human beings like themselves. The way they treat those who are not Arabians is very bad. Even if you are a Muslim like them, they will still treat you like an animal with no human feeling at all. For this reason, people should stop going to Muslim countries that exploit, dehumanize, and enslave Africans,” he said.

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), North Africa and the Middle East are among the leading regions for human trafficking and organ harvesting, with migrants being prime targets.

Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch have repeatedly documented cases of Africans in Egypt, Kuwait, Qatar, and the UAE facing exploitation, withheld wages, physical abuse, and denial of medical care.

In 2017, Egyptian authorities uncovered one of the world’s largest illegal organ trade rings, where poor migrants (mostly from Africa) were deceived and exploited.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) confirms that millions of African workers in Arabian countries remain trapped in modern-day slavery under the Kafala system, which strips them of freedom, legal protection, and dignity.

Dr Adedipe Dauda Ewenla emphasized that while most Arabian countries remain hostile to African migrants, only Saudi Arabia is somewhat fairer in its treatment of foreigners due to religious obligations. Still, he urged caution.

It is high time we sounded this warning loud and clear: Nigerians should stop relocating to Cairo or any unsafe Arabian country. Families must not encourage their loved ones to travel there. Our people must understand that survival there is dangerous, humiliating, and life-threatening,” he concluded.
