UK-Based Oluyole Diamond Sisters Club Donates N40 Million Equipment to Adeoyo Maternity Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit

In a commendable gesture aimed at supporting neonatal healthcare, the Oluyole Diamond Sisters Club, United Kingdom, has donated medical equipment valued at ₦40 million to the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) of the Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital (AMTH), Yemetu, Ibadan.

The donation, according to hospital management, is a significant boost to the facility’s capacity to deliver quality neonatal care and aligns with the current administration’s goal of providing accessible, qualitative, and affordable healthcare under the “Omi Tuntun 2.0” initiative of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Speaking during the donation ceremony, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of AMTH, Dr. Adeniji Olanrewaju, applauded the club’s gesture and highlighted the Makinde-led administration’s prioritization of the health sector.

“This donation is timely and aligns with Governor Makinde’s vision of sustainable healthcare delivery across the state,” Dr. Olanrewaju said. “The health sector under Omi-Tuntun 2.0 is focused on excellence and wellness for all, and this kind of support from our citizens in the diaspora is highly commendable.”

In his address, The Chairman Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Akin Fagbemi, who recounted the historic importance of Adeoyo Maternity Hospital, noting that it served as the foundation for the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, before the latter moved to its permanent site.

Dr. Fagbemi commended Governor Makinde for his “unwavering support” to the health sector and noted the progress being made under the present administration.

“We are proud of the leadership of our energetic and visionary governor. The entire health system is advancing steadily thanks to his strategic investments,” he added.

Delivering remarks on behalf of the donor group, the General Secretary of Oluyole Diamond Sisters Club UK, Mrs. Ramat Ojetola, stated that the donation was a way of giving back to the society that raised them.

“We believe in supporting our roots, and we know that these items will make a tangible difference in saving lives,” she said.

Mrs. Ojetola also praised Governor Makinde for his commitment to infrastructure development and workforce welfare in the state, including the recruitment of health professionals, timely salary payments, and the implementation of the new minimum wage.

President-General of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), Barr. Sulaimon Ajewole, was also in attendance and described the governor as the “Architect of Modern Oyo State,” applauding his proactive governance across all sectors.
