Isn’t Coalition Far Better Than the Dreaded APC?|Amb.(Dr.) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla

As for me, I, Prince Amb. (Dr) Adedipe Dauda Ewenla, remain firmly and unapologetically committed to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), regardless of the political climate.

Coalitions can indeed serve as useful tools in politics especially to challenge a dominant ruling party like the APC, whose policies and governance style many Nigerians find deeply troubling. However, at the end of the day, I strongly believe the PDP remains the most structured, experienced, and nationally accepted political platform capable of truly rescuing, reforming, and rebuilding Nigeria.

My loyalty to the PDP is not driven by mere political calculation. It is rooted in history, conviction, and a genuine belief in the party’s enduring capacity to deliver real democratic dividends to the Nigerian people.

The PDP is a strong political institution that cannot be destroyed by those who have chosen to defect, particularly to a platform like ADC. Many of those now parading themselves as defectors were never truly active or relevant members of the PDP especially in Lagos. One may ask them: when last did they attend PDP meetings in their various local governments and wards? It is on record that some of them even worked against the interest of the party during the last general elections in 2023.

Some of these individuals still parade themselves as PDP members publicly while secretly operating within the Labour Party or the APC without even formally resigning from the PDP. Now, they present so-called “resignation letters” to the PDP only to deceive themselves and the leadership of ADC. They know that the PDP remains the only political party in Nigeria with a genuine, nationwide structure. One should rightly question what contributions they made to the party when they claimed to be loyal.

Most of them practice politics only on social media and PDP WhatsApp platforms. This is why, ironically, they still remain in the same PDP WhatsApp groups while claiming to have defected to ADC. This alone is a clear sign of a lack of integrity and honesty. If they truly had integrity, they would exit PDP platforms completely and focus on their new political journey in ADC rather than trying to introduce their new, dead-on-arrival platform on PDP spaces.

For those who claim to be leaders that left PDP for ADC, ask them what tangible contributions they made to the PDP, especially since the last general elections in 2023. Many only show up and participate in party activities when they are contesting for positions; once they lose, they disappear and stop attending meetings from the NEC level down to their various wards.

The reality remains clear: the PDP is the only political party with the national capacity and organizational strength to rescue Nigeria from the economic hardship, insecurity, and misrule brought about by Tinubu’s APC. I am confident that in 2027, the PDP will send the APC into retirement, and no amount of grandstanding by ADC and its leaders will change that. The ADC, as far as Nigerian politics is concerned, is dead on arrival.
