In recent times, false rumors have circulated regarding the health and even the alleged death of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Let me state this clearly: we do not pray for the death of Tinubu. No true son of Yorubaland, regardless of political affiliation, will wish death upon a fellow human being and Yoruba man, especially a leader occupying the highest office in the land. Our culture values long life and justice not bitterness and death wishes.

However, the Nigerian people are frustrated and rightly so. The current administration under Bola Tinubu has proven to be a monumental disappointment. In fact, the failures of former President Buhari now appear modest when compared to the economic and political calamities Tinubu has unleashed on the nation within just over 2 years of his presidency.

Lagos: The Warning That Was Ignored

We, the people of Lagos, warned Nigerians not to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu. We had experienced his style of governance firsthand during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State. Despite being credited for laying the foundation for Lagos’ development, Tinubu left behind a trail of debt, property disputes, and a legacy of cronyism. Many family lands were reportedly acquired through controversial means and converted to personal or political assets. Today, Lagos remains one of the most indebted states in the country, with every successive governor struggling under the weight of financial burdens inherited from the Tinubu era.

The public perception of progress was largely crafted through the achievements of former Governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode men whose visions were systematically overshadowed or cut short by the overbearing influence of Tinubu.

Nigeria Under Tinubu: A Nation in Economic Chains

Since assuming office in 2023, Tinubu has plunged Nigeria into deeper debt, implementing policies that have worsened the economic reality for everyday Nigerians. The sudden removal of fuel subsidies, poorly executed and without adequate palliatives, has resulted in record-high fuel prices and a surge in the cost of living. While government officials boast about “trillions saved,” there are no tangible, people-focused projects to justify the growing debt profile. The Naira continues to depreciate, inflation is at an all-time high, and hunger has become the new normal for millions of Nigerians.

Worse still, under Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria has now become one of the highest borrowers in the world, yet there is no clear roadmap, transparency, or national transformation agenda that justifies this aggressive borrowing. Instead of tackling corruption and wasteful spending, the government continues to prioritize foreign travel, bloated bureaucracies, and cosmetic PR campaigns.

The Illegitimacy of a Stolen Mandate

We must not forget that Tinubu’s presidency was birthed from a highly contested and controversial election, marred by alleged voter suppression, disenfranchisement, and electoral manipulation, primarily through the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). His victory is still considered illegitimate by millions of Nigerians who were denied a free and fair electoral process.

The 2027 Election Will Be Different

We, as members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), are already working towards a decisive and democratic change in 2027. Tinubu will not escape political accountability. We want him alive, healthy, and mentally present to witness the overwhelming rejection of his failed governance at the ballot box.

We say this loud and clear: Tinubu will live to see the PDP return to power in 2027. He will live to witness how the Nigerian people, united across ethnic, religious, and regional lines, will use their votes to send a powerful message of change and restoration. That is the Yoruba way: we don’t wish death—we deliver justice through democratic means.

Let it be known across Nigeria: those spreading false death rumors are not speaking for the PDP, the people of Lagos, or the Yoruba race. We do not celebrate death we fight for better governance.

We will continue to demand accountability. We will expose incompetence. And we will vote out failure in 2027.
