Fayose’s Endorsement of APC Is a National Disgrace — He Has No Moral Ground to Speak for the PDP | Amb Adedipe Dauda Ewenla PDP Southwest Ex-Officio

It is rather unfortunate that some individuals, driven by personal interests and political confusion, continue to impose their contradictions on the people all in the name of love for political office.

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose, who once presented Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka as his anointed successor in the 2018 Ekiti State gubernatorial election claiming divine direction in his selection failed woefully to secure victory for the PDP. As an incumbent governor at the time, he could only win 5 local government areas, while the opposition APC clinched 11 local governments, exposing his loss of political grip and public trust in Ekiti State.

Today, that same Fayose, who could not secure a win for his chosen PDP successor, has shamelessly turned around to endorse an APC governor for a second term, and now boldly supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the APC for re-election. This political flip-flop raises a critical question: how can a man who failed his party in power, and who could not deliver his own state to the PDP, claim to now speak with authority or credibility?

Let it be made clear Ayodele Fayose has no moral standing or political integrity to endorse anyone, either in the PDP or the opposition. His pattern of anti-party behavior, public embarrassment, and opportunistic alliances has done nothing but damage the reputation of the PDP, especially in the Southwest.

Let’s recall his failed 2022 when he imposes the PDP State Chairman, H E Bisi Kolawole, as the party’s gubernatorial candidate that resulted in another humiliating defeat, with the PDP winning only one local government area, while APC took 15 local governments.

It is on this basis that, as a respected PDP Southwest Executive Officer and a leader in my personal capacity, I state unequivocally that Ayodele Fayose does not represent the PDP. He has not attended any major PDP meeting in recent years, continues to engage in anti-party activities, and acts more like a secret APC operative than a committed member of the opposition.

Therefore, it is advisable that Mr. Fayose formally exits the PDP if he so passionately supports the APC. This will save him from further embarrassing himself, as he has consistently done, not only before party members but also in the public domain. His name continues to pop up in corruption-related matters, and it is no secret that his sudden praise for the APC may be linked to efforts to protect himself from future prosecution.

Let me remind him Nigerians are watching, and social media never forgets. When next he seeks public office or aims to represent Nigeria in any national or international capacity, his political record will be scrutinized, and his past endorsements will haunt him.

Only those who lack moral clarity and are blind to Nigeria’s current economic hardship will vote for APC in any future election. The PDP, despite its internal challenges, remains the only party with a clear vision to rescue Nigeria from the wreckage of the APC government.

We remain confident that the PDP will reclaim Ekiti State, as well as win future elections in Osun State and across Nigeria. The people are tired of deception, hunger, insecurity, and failed promises.
